Southern Development began building fine homes in Central Virginia in 1999. It was started by Frank T. Ballif, a civil engineering graduate from the University of Virginia. In a manner uniquely its own, Southern Development oversees the "community development" process from start to finish. Beginning with a concept and raw land, Southern Development designs and master plans many of its projects from conception to home construction. This all encompassing strategy ensures that the development process produces an exquisite model for a fantastic community. Southern Development has had tremendous success developing communities and building homes in a wide variety of communities in Charlotttesville and its surrounding counties.
