Once you’ve selected your home site and floor plan, our full-service design center showroom in downtown Charlottesville will be project-central for your new home. You’ll begin by meeting with our design consultant to start the process of personalizing your new home.
During your initial included features tour you will be introduced to the array of included features, as well as the available personalized choices you may select from in order to make your home uniquely yours! But, because quality comes standard with every Southern Development home, there’s no pressure to “upgrade” – just a helpful design expert working with
After your introduction to our state-of-the-art design showroom, you will have the tools you need to help you make the best possible selections at your follow-up initial and final selection appointments with Anna Posner, our design center manager.

The Design Process
Included Features Tour
To simplify the selection process, we’ve assembled a full range of high-quality design options into one convenient showroom. From the latest trends to classic styles, this is where your individual vision emerges. Our consultant will walk you through your choices – interior and exterior, fixtures and appliances, cabinets and countertops.
Initial Selections Appointment
Your new home’s design will come to life during your initial selections appointment with our design consultant. You’ll choose everything from new hardwood floors and kitchen cabinets to locations of your television and internet lines. Come prepared with design inspirations and questions to get the most out of your one-on-one appointment with your consultant.
Final Selections Appointment
This is where you see it all come together! Our design consultant will have your selections prepared as you walk in for your final appointment, showing all of your personal choices laid out together for easy and cohesive viewing. You’ll be able to make any last changes before authorizing all of your new home’s interior and exterior selections during this final meeting. Once authorized, the rest is up to us, while you get to sit back and enjoy!
